Sure-Dry Shout Out Board Video Submission FAQ
What is this?
This is for submitting "shout out" videos of encouragement which will play when participants pass the video board on the course. You can record a video for your friend, coworker, relative, etc.
Here is an example of the participant experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbCv9p3kVTA
What are some ideas for messages to record?
You did great, way to finish!
Way to go, I'm so proud of you!
We knew you'd do great, congrats!
We do recommend using your participant's first name in your video. This will help attract their attention as they pass the video board. You may tell them in advance to expect a video, or leave it as a surprise.
How do I record a video?
Visit https://www.mtectiming.com/ShoutoutVideo/FoxCities2023/VideoUpload.html
When you visit the site, you must give it permission to access your camera in order to record a video. The site will only have permission to record while it is open.
Search for a participant by name and select them from the search results. Only registered participants will appear in the search results. For relay teams, search by participant name and not team name.
Choose "Record".
You will be shown a live image from your device camera. Select the red record button to record your 5-10 second message.
When you finished your message, stop recording. Select Retake to re-record, or Use Video to continue.
Choose the green "Upload" button to upload your video.
You will be shown a submission confirmation page.
Where will the video play?
The video will be played on the Sure-Dry Shout Out Board located at Arrowhead Park in Neenah, before miles 25 for the Full Marathon and 12 for the Half Marathon.
Who can I submit a video for?
You can record a video for anyone participating in the full, half or relay marathons. To see what their experience will be like as they pass the video board click here.
Note: By submitting a video, you agree that Fox Cities Marathon may use the video for future race promotions.
When will the video play?
Videos will be triggered when the participant crosses timing system mats prior to the video board.
Because there may be many participants with submitted videos passing the board simultaneously, it may not be possible to show everyone's video.
How do I find my participant?
Search by last name or full name. You can also search by partial name.
What if I cannot find my participant in the list?
Participant data is being updated as new registrations and changes are received, it might take a few days for recent entries to show up in the search, please check back.
Can multiple videos be submitted for one participant?
Yes, although they may not all be played back. Priority for playback will be for participants who haven't had a video played yet. If time allows, multiple videos may be played for one participant.
How long does the video need to be?
The recording must be 5 to 10 seconds long. This gives long enough to get your participant's attention, but not so long that other videos don't have time to play.
Will someone be reviewing the video I submit?
Yes, the Fox Cities Marathon staff will review all videos submitted. Any video with foul or offensive language or show anything that's deemed inappropriate will not be shown on race day.
Until what date can I submit a video?
Video submissions will be accepted until Saturday, September 14 at Noon CDT.
Will the videos be available online or elsewhere after the event?
No. The videos will only be played at the event when the participant passes the video board, if there is a time slot available. They will not be available online before/after/during the event.
Do I have to record the video on the website? Can I record it elsewhere and upload a file?
Videos must be recorded using the submission website. In order to control video length, quality, format, etc. we can't accept uploaded video files.
What can I use to record my video?
Both iPhone and Android are supported, although you may need the most updated version.
You may also record from a computer with a built-in or web camera and microphone using recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, or Opera.
